President Barack Obama and the first family spent Martin Luther King Jr. day volunteering at a local soup kitchen.

The president, the first lady and daughters Malia and Sasha arrived at the D.C. Central Kitchen, which celebrated its 25th anniversary. They joined an assembly line of volunteers to help stuff burritos.

“I just want to thank everybody here for the great work they do,” the president said, according to pool reports.

DC Central Kitchen prepares thousands of meals every day for distribution to local shelters.

The family was joined by senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.
