Talented High School Student Offered 150 Scholarships

A Florida teen and his family won’t have any worries about paying for college tuition. 18-year-old Chad Thomas, a senior from Miami, was offered 150 scholarships.

Although the 6-5, 240 pound defensive end helped lead his Booker T. Washington High School football team to back-to-back state championships and a national title this year, his scholarships were not only because of his athletic abilities– many were for music.

Thomas is a music phenom and plays nine instruments! He plays the piano, trombone,  small tuba, bass guitar, regular guitar, snare, tuba, trumpet and drums. Whew!

“I just took it upon myself to learn how to play the instruments that I hear in the songs”, he said.

And to top his talents, he maintains a 3.3 GPA.

Despite the seemingly endless possibilities for his future college career, the teen has made a final decision on where he will send the next four years of his life. He signed a national letter of intent for the University of Miami where he has a scholarship for both football and music.

“It’s always been in my mind to go to school there. Football is not for long. I can go down with a knee injury tomorrow, but I know I’ll always be able to move my fingers and play an instrument, click a mouse.”
