Honey Maid Responds To Commercial Backlash With ‘Love’

A Nabisco ad campaign for Honey Maid titled “This is Wholesome” was released last month, featuring same-sex dads and interracial families among other visions of households. The ad said, “No matter how things change, what makes us wholesome never will. Honey Maid. Everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family, This is wholesome.”

Predictably, the commercial promoting sweetness all around with teddy grahams and s’mores received feedback that wasn’t so sugar-coated. Honey Maid received backlash for portraying homosexual fathers by anti-gay groups using words such as “disgusting” and calling for a boycott of the company. Of course, Honey Maid could have chosen to easily ignore all the conservative complaints, but instead chose to turn the negativity into something so beautiful…..
