Furious Father Attacks Autistic Son’s Bully

A  father has landed himself in jail after he escorted his 9-year-old autistic son onto the school bus and proceeded to attack his son’s 11-year-old bully.

The incident occurred Friday morning in the Bay Area suburb of Richmond, Calif., reports CBS San Fransico.

After following his son onto the school bus, the man had his son point out the boy who had been bullying him.

“The father grabbed the 11-year old by the hair, pulled hard and raised the child out of his seat, then shoved him on the side of the bus where the window meets the wall,” said Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan.

As a result of the attack, the 11-year-old got a cut to his earlobe and another wound on his cheek.

Police say Hurd also threatened to kill the 11-year-old and made threatening statements to other students on the bus as well.

The incident was not caught on tape and was not reported by the bus driver, who was present, but did not intercede. Principals and the police department became aware of the melee when the 11-year-old reported the incident.

Burnis Hurd, 44, is charged with 273 D, which is child abuse and corporal injury to a child. He is in jail on a $50,000 bond.

The man’s son and the victim both attend a special education program at Wilson Elementary School in Richmond.

In an interview with KPIX 5 Friday, Shanika Moses, the aunt and guardian of the boy who was attacked, said, “I want [Burnis] to be prosecuted to the fullest.”
