Obamas Enjoy Family Vacation At Martha’s Vineyard
The First Family left for their familiar spot at Martha’s Vineyard for a two-week summer vacation. President Obama was whisked away with first lady Michelle Obama, eldest daughter Malia Obama, and family dogs Bo and Sunny, to their rental home off Prospect Hill Road in Chilmark. The Obama’s youngest daughter, Sasha will be joining the rest of the family later.
President Obama has spent at least part of his summer in Martha’s Vineyard each year since becoming president, except during his 2012 re-election year. Always maintaining a low-profile while out with the family, the president will be returning to the White House midway through his vacation this year. Advisers are a little wary about the two-day trip back to Washington, but say the president only plans to hold in-person meetings upon his return.
The president will be headlining a campaign fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on the island Monday night (Aug. 11). The political event will be held at a private residence in Tisbury, Mass., and will go towards the finances of Democratic campaigns this fall as the party tries to maintain its majority in the Senate.
In related news, 16-year-old Malia recently sent Twitter into a frenzy when she was spotted at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago with some friends. One lucky music lover managed to snap a happy selfie with the first daughter.
The festival took place over three days with as many as 300,000 attendees. Headline acts included Kings of Leon, Eminem, Outkast, Arctic Monkey, Skrillex and Calvin Harris. Although Malia had to turn down requests for pictures, Twitter couldn’t contain the excitement.
