66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Not even former Miss America can dodge Uncle Sam.

Vanessa Williams, who was the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America in 1983, reportedly owes the IRS nearly $370,000 in unpaid taxes. However, this little dilemma didn’t stop the mother of four from attending the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards with her youngest daughter, Sasha Gabriella Fox.

Williams was forced to resign ten months into her reign as Miss America when nude photos taken by a photographer prior to her pageant days surfaced in the media.

Although she stepped down from fulfilling her duties at the time, Williams was able to keep the bejeweled crown and scholarship money along with official recognition by the Miss America Organization as “Miss America 1984 – A” and Suzette Charles as “Miss America 1984 – B.”

Since then, Williams released eight albums and works as an actress, earning several Emmy nominations for her involvement in the sitcom Ugly Betty.
