Pilar Sanders Jailed for Custody Violation
Pilar Sanders, the ex-wife of former NFL star Deion Sanders, was sentenced to seven days in jail on Tuesday after violating a custody agreement.
District Judge Ray Wheless ruled that Pilar Sanders was in contempt of court when she violated part of the couple’s divorce agreement by not returning the couple’s children to Deion in a timely manner.
The judge originally ordered her jailed for 30-days but suspended and probated the sentence, but as part of probation she must serve a week in the Collin County jail.
Deion Sanders won sole custody of the children in a bitter divorce case a few years ago. He is also seeking up to $1 million in a lawsuit against his ex-wife for defamation. He claims she published false statements to the media accusing him of child abuse, assault and attempted murder. That trial will occur in March 2015.
The Sanders’ divorce was finalized in June 2013 with Deion Sanders awarded custody of the couple’s three children and Pilar Sanders granted visitation rights.
Pilar Sanders was booked into the Collin County Detention Center on Tuesday afternoon.
