Lifetime Releases Emotional ‘Beaches’ Remake Trailer
Lifetime has released its first emotional look at the network’s Beaches remake starring Nia Long and Idina Menzel.
The remake will revisit the story from the 1988 original, which starred Barbara Hershey and Bette Midler, which followed the epic friendship between two women over the course of 30 years. Long will star as Hillary, the role which Barbara Hershey originated, and Menzel will take over Bette Midler’s role of CC.
The trailer previews a few memorable shots from the original, like the two friends meeting on the beach and their resulting photo booth pictures, CC at Hillary’s bedside meeting her newborn daughter. It also included even more somber shots, like CC crying outside of Hillary’s hospital room and holding her friend after receiving some devastating news (which we won’t spoil for those of you who haven’t seen the original movie).
The network released a description of the film back when it was announced, which you can read below:
Beaches follows the serendipitous meeting of two youngsters on the Venice Boardwalk, who, though worlds apart in lifestyle, embark on unexpected and lifelong friendship. CC (Menzel) is an aspiring singer trying to make it in Los Angeles. Hillary (Long) is the daughter of a prominent civil rights lawyer who struggles to find her own destiny. Their friendship—even with its ups and downs—sustains them for decades.
