Amazon Launches STEM-Centric Subscription Service for Kids
Amazon has launched a subscription service aimed towards getting kids excited about all things STEM ((Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
The e-commerce site is now operating STEM Club, a program that will send educational toys to children’s’ homes for $19.99 per month. The toys that your child will receive are described by the retailer as “hand-picked” and “high-quality” and there are three age groups that parents can sign their children up in: 3-4 year olds; 5-7 year olds; and 8-13 year olds.
The subscriptions are curated by Amazon editors and various brands to bring your child a new fun, educational toy each month-“from programmable robots to rockin’ crystal kits and chemistry sets to cool arithmetic toys” and more. Once you sign your child up, your first STEM Club toy will arrive a your home within a week.
Another benefit of Amazon’s new service is that you aren’t locked into the subscription for any length of time and can cancel whenever you want.
According to TechCrunch, this isn’t Amazon’s first foray into the STEM world. They launched the STEM Toys & Games Store back in 2015 and ” at the time, STEM toys were the second-most visited section and had seen the highest sales volume during the prior holidays.”
If you’re looking for a way to get your child interested in STEM without them even knowing it, this subscription service could be perfect for you.
