Tyra Banks Is Making Our Childhood Dreams Come True By Reprising Her Role In The ‘Life-Size’ Sequel
Life-Size was loved and heralded by many back in the day. The early 2000 film starring Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks showed its young audience that they can shine bright and be a star solely by being who they are. Or at least, that’s what the lyrics of the film’s anthem “Be A Star” suggested. The fantasy-comedy depicted a young girl (Lindsay Lohan) who tragically lost her mother and used a spell to resurrect her mother, but instead brought her doll Eve (Tyra Banks) to life. A sequel to the popular film has been in the works since as early as November 2012, but the Freeform network (previously known as ABC Family) has now confirmed that Life-Size 2 is coming to their network in December 2018 with Tyra Banks reprising her starring role!
News of the confirmation broke during Freeform’s Upfront presentation in NYC. There, Freeform executives announced that the film is indeed coming to the network, and in addition to starring Banks, the top model will also serve as the film’s executive producer. Confirmation also came from Tyra Banks herself, who tweeted her 14 million Twitter followers the following:
One word: LIFESIZE
— Tyra Banks (@tyrabanks) April 19, 2017
According to Variety, “Banks will reprise her iconic role as a doll that comes to life, but in the sequel, everyone’s favorite doll, Eve, has grown up. This time, she’s magically awoken to help a young woman learn to live and love again, and along the way, Eve herself will experience the ups and downs of real life in the telepic that’s described by the network as a ‘fun, edgy, modern Christmas movie’.”
Banks’ career has certainly returned to an all-time high after a brief lull when she became a mother for the first time to a son, York Banks-Asia with her partner, Norwegian photographer Erik Asla. The two began dating in 2013 and had York, via surrogacy, on January 27, 2016.
This year alone, Banks has replaced Nick Cannon as the host on the mega-hit NBC show America’s Got Talent and has returned to her now revived America’s Next Top Model as the head judge and host for the show’s upcoming twenty-fourth cycle.
It took about twenty years, but Life-Size 2 will come to a TV near you on Freeform this December.
