The Wait Is Over! ‘Grown-ish’ Gets A Premiere Date

Since its first announcement, fans of the forthcoming series Grown-ish have been waiting to hear when the show will finally hit small screens. Now, the wait is over! Freeform officially announced the premiere date of the highly anticipated Black-ish spinoff starring Yara Shahidi.

Grown-ish will kick off with a two-episode season premiere on Wednesday Jan. 3rd on Freeform. According to Entertainment Weekly, Grown-ish will launch Freeform’s comedy block, that also includes the Lonely Island’s Alone Together. 

From Black-ish executive producer, Kenya Barris, Grown-ish is said to be a contemporary take on current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education. Yara Shahidi will reprise the role as Zoey, along with Chris Parnell (Archer, Elena of Avalor), Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Jordan Buhat (Summer of ’84), Emily Arlook (Just Add Water), Chloe x Halle, Trevor Jackson (American Crime, K.C. Undercover), and Deon Cole, who will star in the series as his Black-ish character, Charlie.

“At Freeform, we are committed to our audience; and this past year, we refined our programming strategy to be a destination for trendsetting originals that champion youth culture,” Freeform president Tom Ascheim said per EW.
