“Stressed” Serena Williams Asks for Help as Baby Alexis Suffers from Teething

Even with the joys that come with motherhood, it can still be stressful at times. Now first-time mother Serena Williams is experiencing these stress-filled moments as her 3-month-old daughter agonizes through teething.

On Sunday (December 17), Williams took to Instagram to share this stressful moment and asked her social media followers for help to ease baby Alexis’s teething pains. “Teething- aka the devil – is so hard. Poor Alexis Olympia has been so uncomfortable. She cried so much (she never cries) I had to hold her until she fell asleep,” Williams wrote. “I’ve tried amber beads… cold towels…. chew on mommies fingers…. homeopathic water (lol on that one) but nothing is working. It’s breaking my heart. I almost need my mom to come and hold me to sleep cause I’m so stressed. Help? Anyone??”

Fans quickly came to the rescue, sharing easy solutions ranging from frozen waffles to Baby Orajel. According to Parenting.com, there are several safe remedies parents can do to soothe their little one’s teething pains.

  1. Gum Massage: All parents need is a clean finger! Simply apply gentle counter-pressure to a baby’s sore gums can help ease the pain.
  2. Cold Washcloth: Stick a clean washcloth (dipped in water, breast milk, or chamomile tea) in the freezer and is perfect for the baby to gnaw on.
  3. Chilled Fruit: Chilled fruit, like apples or bananas, placed inside of a mesh feeder can provide relief for a baby’s sore gums and also serve as a tasty snack.
  4. Cold Spoon: A chilled spoon from the fridge (not the freezer) can offer relief. Parenting.com suggest applying the rounded part of the spoon to baby’s gums.
  5. Pain relievers including; Baby Orajel Naturals, Camilia, and Hyland’s Teething Gel are suggested.

Earlier this year, Serena and Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian wed in a beautiful, star-studded ceremony in New Orleans. The parents to little Alexis, who began dating in 2015, said “I do” not long after welcoming their bundle of joy on September 1st.
