‘Black-ish’ Star Marsai Martin Set to Star and Produce Comedy ‘Little’
Talk about #BlackGirlMagic! Black-ish breakout star Marsai Martin is adding producer to her résumé at the age of 13! It has been confirmed that Martin is set to star and produce in Universal’s comedy “Little.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film centers on a woman who gets the opportunity to relive the carefree life of her younger self after adulthood becomes overwhelming. The news of the forthcoming film is noteworthy not only because it’s Martin’s first studio feature, but she came up with the idea herself! “Peeples” director-writer Tina Gordon Chism is set to direct the film, with Survivor’s Remorse writer Tracy Oliver penning the first draft.
Girls Trip producers Will Packer and James Lopez will produce the film alongside Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. As THR reports, Girls Trip star Regina Hall will join forces with Martin to serve as executive producers.
On Wednesday (January 24), Packer took to twitter to share his excitement for the upcoming film. “So proud to be working with a true rockstar of the next generation,” he wrote. “[Marsai Martin] who came up with this idea and will produce it with me!!! Let’s go MM!!!”
