It’s Official! ‘Space Jam 2’ is Happening with an All-Star Cast and Crew
After years of speculation, the sequel to the 90’s classic Space Jam will indeed be getting a reboot with a star-studded cast and crew!
Confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, the long-anticipated sequel to the Michael Jordan-Bugs Bunny film will be produced by Ryan Coogler – since directing the record-breaking film Black Panther. Along with Coogler, Fast Five director Justin Lin will also serve as producer. Terence Nance, creator of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness, will direct the film.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, LeBron explained that he loved Coogler’s vision for Black Panther, saying that when he was growing up there were no black superheros to look up to. “For Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing.” James said.
Lebron’s production company, SpringHill Entertainment, shared the news of the forthcoming film on Instagram.

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” he said to THR. “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”
For now, there is no premiere date for the Warner Bros. film. But don’t fret – production for the Space Jam sequel is expected to begin during the 2019 off-season.
